Unpopular Opinions
Posted on 30 May, 2023 by Marie Lafortune

In a world filled with diverse opinions and societal expectations, it's important to acknowledge and respect individual choices. Women, in particular, often find themselves facing judgments and unwarranted opinions regarding various aspects of their lives. As a woman who understands the experiences of many other women, I feel compelled to address the issue of unpopular opinions and the impact they can have. All too often, individuals believe that voicing their thoughts, even if seemingly innocent or conversation-starting, is harmless. However, it is crucial to recognize that expressing unsolicited opinions without considering the context and the individual's feelings can be disrespectful and trigger unwanted feelings on the other side.
Women and Marriage:
Not every woman desires or needs marriage to feel fulfilled. It's essential to recognize that personal happiness and success can be achieved without a partner. Some individuals thrive on their independence and prefer to focus on personal growth and self-discovery.
Hey! Remind yourself that it is not your business to take care of theirs. Respectfully!
It is crucial to respect their decision and understand that a relationship does not define a person's worth or happiness. Choices are becoming widely open nowadays; some people love to travel, some love their careers, and some others just want to be childless to explore more about themselves. It might not be alright for you, but if they don’t complain about misery with you, you have no business to stuck in your nose. Let it be their business. It will probably take a while for you to accept that your traditionality has evolved, but please let it be.
Women and Motherhood:
The decision to have children or expand one's family is deeply personal and should not be subject to external pressure. This is what we say to ourselves. Even women from our own community tend to pressure other women into taking on such a so-huge lifetime responsibility. If someone can’t have kids, it is even worse to even bring that up to them. Children should be a private discussion between those interested. If they haven’t mentioned it as an issue or discussed it to get feedback from someone else, I think the best bet is to let it go.
Women's goals and aspirations change over time, and it is their prerogative to redefine their paths accordingly. Placing women on a pedestal and questioning their choices regarding motherhood only serves to reinforce stereotypes and limit their autonomy.
Women and Weight:
Body shaming, particularly towards women, has become pervasive in our society. Every person is unique, and their bodies come in various shapes and sizes. I have personally great friends who weigh more than 300 pounds and trust me, they are great in so many areas of life you would never imagine. I have seen my friend own a floor in a dance club! You don’t judge by appearance; let people choose their lives. Stupidly, sometimes we might have opinions that go towards their birth traits. Some of them are born like that and can’t do a thing about it.
It is so unfair and out of place to judge someone based on their weight. Confidence and self-worth should not be tied to physical appearance. Instead, we should celebrate diversity and encourage positive body image, promoting self-acceptance and love for all.
Women and Appearance:
While it's natural to want to present oneself in the best possible way, it is essential to remember that everyone has different priorities and circumstances. Whether a woman embraces a glamorized appearance or prefers a more relaxed style, respect should be given to her personal choices. True beauty lies in self-expression and being comfortable in one's skin, regardless of societal expectations.
I have seen people go in awe over others' appearances on social media. Well, let’s say I get your point. For me as well, I think women are beautiful the way they are; naturally. However, staying neglected is also another way to attract bad energy into your life. Full mouth of undesired opinions, and judgments. No honey! You do not need that. Keep the bad vibes out of your life, it doesn't really cost a Lamborghini to clean up your appearance. Do it.
Women and Careers:
We must dismantle the notion that certain careers are exclusively suited for women. Every individual possesses unique talents, passions, and ambitions. Encouraging women to pursue their dreams and aspirations rather than pigeonholing them into traditionally gendered roles, is crucial for their personal growth and professional fulfillment. The value of a career should not be measured solely by its perceived "caring" nature, but rather by the individual's passion and fulfillment in their chosen field.
You haven’t been told to choose a specific career because you are a woman; congratulations! You were raised in a supportive environment. But who told them that was the way to go for women? Personally, I got more than 10 comments about why didn’t I choose to be a nurse. Well, disrespectfully, why have you not? It is better for people to understand that when you have a passion, it pays more emotionally, psychologically, and, of course, financially. Respect everyone’s career choice, so in return they can respect yours.
Unpopular opinions often challenge deeply ingrained societal norms, and it's crucial to give voice to these perspectives. Respecting women's choices regarding marriage, motherhood, appearance, weight, and career is an essential step towards a more inclusive and accepting society. By celebrating diversity and embracing individuality, we empower women to make choices that align with their desires and ambitions, ultimately fostering a more harmonious and equitable world for all.
